January 7, 2014                 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)…The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Sportsman Modified Series recently released its slate of events for the inaugural 2014 season that includes over 30 events at nine different speedways.  Now, Series Directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone are releasing details of its point fund program.

A guaranteed minimum $10,025 point fund has been posted to member racers with $3,000 going to the inaugural champion paying down to $250 for 15th spot (see below for complete breakdown).  The standings will look at drivers’ 10 best finishes at RUSH-sanctioned events throughout the duration of the 2014 schedule.  As the Series grows, a separate Touring Series point will be established like there is currently with the sister Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Series.

“We’ve received an abundance of questions lately from racers regarding our point fund,” stated Leone.  “We felt a separate press release that was more specific would help clear some of the questions and misconceptions.  Some were confused when we released our schedule and thought they had to compete in all of these events.  That’s simply not true, though the more races one competes in can certainly help better their point total and throw out lesser finishes once they achieve 10 races.  Our goal is to build a base of cars in the Clearfield area and areas to the north as well as our western PA/eastern Ohio base.”

“We will be announcing in the near future which events will be Tour events with the higher purse structures,” explained Emig.  “Our goal for the first season is about a half-dozen of these shows.  In the future, we will have a separate Tour point fund like our Late Models.  People need to realize when we started Crate Late Models in the Northeast in 2007 there were zero cars and our initial point fund was also $10,000, just like what we’re doing with the Sportsman Modifieds.  This past season our RUSH Late Model cash point fund alone was around $70,000!  Regional promoters are as committed to this new concept just as much as we are and are backing it 100%!”

Another program unique to the RUSH Late Models is the “Futures Cup” for racers under 20 years of age that do not have full-time experience in higher divisions.  Ryan Montgomery, Nico Dabecco, and Eric Wilson have captured the $1,000 Late Model titles, which awards $3,000 to the top 10 racers in addition to stand alone races.  That same program could be introduced to the Sportsman Modifieds as well at an introductory level if enough young talent participates in 2014.

The RUSH Racing Series would like to thank Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC for their support of the new Sportsman Modifieds and their continued backing of crate racing in the Northeast!
