August 30, 2017             FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Mercer, PA)… The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Racing Series powered by Pace Performance is excited to announce that the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds will compete at Mercer Raceway Park for the for the first time in the division's four-year history!  Two complete Bicknell Racing Products Weekly Series events have been scheduled during the  "Little Guy Nationals" on October 6-7.  Race time is 7 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday night.

Mercer will become the eighth different speedway to host a RUSH Sportsman Modified event in 2017 and the 24th different speedway throughout all of the RUSH sanctioned divisions.  The popular "Little Guy Nationals"  has been a longstanding tradition of being the region's biggest support division only event.  Throughout the years, Mercer has been on the RUSH Sportsman Modified racers' wish list for an event and now their wish has become a reality with two events, and large car count is expected each night.

"We're excited to have the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds part of the Little Guy Nationals," said Mercer promoter Eric Williams.  "We're always looking at ways to grow this traditional, successful event and we felt by bringing in the RUSH Modifieds would do just that.  The class is growing, and obviously is a support division so it's natural pairing to be included in this event.  Mercer sits very close to the center where the majority of the racers are from."

Member drivers will be able to accumulate points each night toward the Bicknell Weekly Series Championships along with eligible "Futures Cup" drivers towards that championship.  Friday night will be a guaranteed payoff of $500 to-win, $75 to-start, while Saturday increases to $600 to-win, $100 to-start.  The complete payoff is posted below.

"It's fitting for our RUSH Sportsman Modifieds to make their first ever Mercer appearance during the Little Guy Nationals," stated Emig.  "We've been fortunate enough to have many regional speedways host events over the four-year history of the division, and I know our racers are going to be really excited to be part of the Little Guy Nationals- the region's granddaddy and originator of large regional support class events.  It's a great chance for our racers to have two more good paying shows right in the center of the region before 2017 wraps up, and we have to thank both track owner Bill Altman and promoter Eric Williams for this exciting opportunity.  With the Little Guy Nationals date moved later, it worked out perfect as this was a totally off weekend before we finish up at Lernerville Speedway's Steel City Stampede."
