SWEENEY RUSH LATE MODEL TOUR & BICKNELL SPORTSMAN MODIFIED TOUR TO COMPLETE 2015 “APPLE FESTIVAL NATIONALS” SATURDAY AT SHARON

(Hartford, OH)…The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Racing Series powered by Pace Performance will have a doubleheader this Saturday (April 16) at Sharon Speedway with the 2015 “Apple Festival National” make-up for the Sweeney Late Model Touring Series and the Bicknell Racing Products Sportsman Modified Touring Series.  There will be an open practice on Friday night from 5-9 p.m.  On Saturday, warm-ups will get underway at approximately 5:30 p.m. with racing at 6. 

 

Back on September 11, Max Blair set fast in $100 Bobby Lake Motorsports “Shock the Clock” Qualifying for the Sweeney RUSH Late Model Tour with a lap of 16.419.  Blair, Will Thomas III, and Steve Lowery earned $25 for their Bobby Lake Motorsports heat race wins.  Charlie Duncan, who will be following the entire 2016 Sweeney Touring Series, won the K&N Dash and earned the pole for the 30-lap, $2,000 to-win feature.  Twenty-two cars were in the pits.

 

RUSH Sportsman Modified Bicknell Weekly Series and Sharon Speedway champion Greg Martin along with 2015 Bicknell Tour champion Larry Kugel won the heat races over 13-car field, while Rocky Kugel won the K&N Dash.  $800 will be on the line to-win for the 20-lap feature with Martin leading the field to green

 

PLEASE NOTE: Qualified cars that will have a driver change on Saturday will require that car to start behind all of the qualified cars, but ahead of any new cars.  New cars will draw pills to either fill the feature lineup or set the lineup of the B main for the new cars if more than a full field of cars is on hand.  For any new cars, the entry fee is $100 for the Late Models and $35 for the Sportsman Modifieds.  Also, the event will NOT count for 2016 Tour points for either division, but will count for 2016 Weekly points for both divisions.  You do not have to be a member of RUSH to compete.  The red AMB transponders will be used.  RACEceivers will be mandatory.

For both divisions, Precise Racing Products will award a $100 gift card for the "Pedal Down" Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature.  The TBM Brakes “Tough Brake of the Night” will award three bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid valued at approximately $45 along with a certificate for a discount off any TBM Brakes purchase in all events this weekend.

 

RUSH Officials will choose the "Maxima Performance" Award for a driver that exhibits a performance worthy of such for both divisions.  The winner will receive a free case of either Maxima Semi-Syn High Performance Racing Oil or Maxima Performance Racing Oil of your choice.  In addition, the winner will receive one can of SC-1 clear coat, one 16-oz bottle of Maxima Cool-Aide concentrate, one 32-oz quart of Maxima PSF power steering fluid, and a Maxima t-shirt.  The value of this prize package is $170!  

 

The driver that finishes last on the lead lap in both divisions will receive a $25 gift certificate from CrateInsider.com. 

 

For the Sportsman Modifieds, RUSH Officials will determine the Sherwood Racing Wheels "Man of Steel" award winner as one that bounced back from an earlier mishap to finish the event strongly.  The selected driver will receive a certificate for a free Sherwood Racing Wheel.

On Friday, pits open at 4 p.m. with practice from 5-9 p.m.  Pit passes are $20, while grandstand admission is free.  On Saturday, pits open at 3 p.m. with grandstands at 4.  Warm-ups will get underway at approximately 5:30 p.m. followed by racing at 6.  For those without rain checks or two-day passes, Saturday's grandstand admission is $15 for those 14 and over and pit passes are $35. 

 

The 2016 Sweeney RUSH Late Model Touring Series season will get underway one week later at Sharon on Friday, April 22 in a $2,000 to-win “Marquee Event”.  This will be coupled with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.  Meanwhile, the Sweeney RUSH Sportsman Modifieds will have a Bicknell Weekly Series event at Lernerville on April 22.
